Common Surnames of Rupniów and surrounding areas of, Limanowa, Krakow, Poland 1786-1816
Notes:
Rupniów, Limanowa is south east of Krakow in south east Poland. This area is also been called Austria and Galicia.
Rupniów is also found on the films spelled Rupniów and is in the Tarnow district, Nowe Rybie parish.
This list is just an aid for researchers who have no idea where to find their names in Poland giving a possible place to search.
These names have been extracted from SLFHC Film #2006067, Item 4, and to the best of my limited ability to read the records.
The records are handwritten in cursive and in Latin by the catholic priests.
Most of the records are of those that are catholic.
Only the male version of a surname is listed, to avoid the endings that occur to the names of a female.
Keep in mind that even the priests didn't spell the surnames correctly all the time so look for similar variations or sounds.
Keep in mind that I could have misinterpreted a letter in an attempt to translate it.
Also, I may have missed some names in the records.
If there are two or more names listed on a line, it's because it looks like it could be either letters.
Also keep in mind that this list may not be all the names found in this area during this period of time.
This film includes death records for Rupniów from 1786-1901. I only transcribed the names through 1816.
If these are your ancestors and the name is spelled incorrectly on this list, please let me know!
If you connect to a name and want your name and/or web page added next to the name as a researcher of the name people can contact, let me know.
If you find your ancestors in this area, it's a good chance we may be related, so please contact me so we can "Oo" and "Ah" together
